Punjab Launches Two New Mega Public Transport Projects Under CM Maryam Nawaz’s Vision

Punjab’s new era of connectivity begins with Punjab public transport projects, as the provincial government confirms two major additions to its mass transit network. Punjab’s Minister for Information and Culture, Azma Bokhari, stated that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is actively transforming urban mobility through visionary initiatives that strengthen economic growth and public welfare.
According to Bokhari, these Punjab public transport projects mark the continuation of a successful journey that began with the Metro Bus and Orange Line Train. The new plans will introduce tram and high-speed train services to major urban centers, bringing modern, eco-friendly, and time-efficient travel to citizens.
She emphasized that the government’s transport vision under Maryam Nawaz aims to ensure that every citizen—from Lahore to Rahim Yar Khan—benefits from equal access to fast and affordable mobility. These upcoming Punjab public transport projects are designed not only to reduce traffic congestion but also to cut carbon emissions and support cleaner, smarter cities across the province.
Punjab Air Company and Air Ambulance Service
Azma Bokhari further revealed that Maryam Nawaz has approved the creation of the Punjab Air Company, a state-owned aviation entity to enhance regional air connectivity. Under this initiative, the province will also introduce its first-ever Air Ambulance Service, enabling rapid emergency medical transport for citizens in need.
This development represents another milestone in Punjab’s modern public infrastructure strategy. The Punjab public transport projects and air initiatives demonstrate the government’s determination to combine ground and air networks for faster, more inclusive service delivery.
Equal Development Across the Province
The minister clarified that these projects are not limited to major cities. “Our goal is balanced progress,” she said, noting that development from Attock to Rahim Yar Khan and Lahore to Sadiqabad is being carried out without any discrimination. Rural and southern regions will receive the same infrastructure focus as Punjab’s metropolitan areas.
This expansion is part of a larger provincial development framework that also includes the Kissan Card Program, Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Housing Initiative, and relief measures for flood-affected citizens. Collectively, these initiatives are reinforcing CM Maryam Nawaz’s pledge to deliver practical progress to every community.
Rs.100 Billion Relief Package for Flood Victims
Bokhari confirmed that the Punjab government is distributing a Rs.100 billion relief package among flood-affected citizens daily. The assistance aims to rebuild lives and restore economic stability in the most impacted districts. Transparent and direct financial transfers have been prioritized to ensure that deserving families receive timely help.
This initiative complements the province’s wider welfare and transport agenda. By combining economic support with infrastructure development, the government seeks to uplift all segments of society simultaneously.

Kissan Card Phase-2 Support
Under the second phase of the Kissan Card scheme, farmers have already received Rs.100 billion in financial assistance. The scheme helps farmers purchase fertilizers, seeds, and machinery at subsidized rates through digital cards. The program’s expansion underscores Punjab’s long-term commitment to agricultural sustainability, which directly supports the province’s industrial and trade growth linked to the new Punjab public transport projects.

Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Initiative
The Apni Chhat Apna Ghar program is another key pillar of the government’s welfare policy. The initiative is constructing 110,000 low-cost homes across Punjab, with approximately 290 new houses completed daily. The goal is to provide secure housing to low-income families while creating thousands of construction and service-sector jobs.
Azma Bokhari said that these housing efforts, coupled with the transport projects, represent a complete model of economic inclusion—connecting workers to jobs, students to schools, and families to opportunity.
A Vision for Modern Punjab
The government’s consistent focus on Punjab public transport projects shows a broader vision: a province connected by roads, rails, and air networks that support trade, tourism, and community development. With the addition of tram and high-speed train systems, Punjab is preparing to join the ranks of modern urban regions in Asia.
Minister Bokhari highlighted that CM Maryam Nawaz’s leadership is centered on innovation, transparency, and inclusiveness. From introducing digital subsidies to launching aviation and transport reforms, her administration aims to deliver visible results that directly improve daily life.

Building the Future of Connectivity
In the coming months, feasibility studies and technical designs for both the tram system and high-speed train corridors will be finalized. These projects will prioritize energy efficiency, sustainable materials, and accessibility for all citizens—including women, students, and people with disabilities.
Transport economists expect that once operational, the projects will reduce inter-city travel times by up to 40% and boost local business productivity. The planned network could also link industrial zones and residential areas, driving economic activity in small towns and peri-urban areas.
Commitment to a Prosperous Punjab
Punjab’s continuous investment in transport and welfare reflects the government’s strong commitment to progress. “Under Maryam Nawaz’s guidance, every citizen will benefit from development—whether through faster mobility, safer housing, or financial assistance,” Bokhari affirmed.
With these latest Punjab public transport projects, the province is entering a new chapter of connectivity, opportunity, and inclusion. The government’s message is clear: Punjab’s growth will move forward with speed, equality, and vision.
